Parts.

The first version of the "Flush Braced" lug used from 1947 until the late 50s. This lug is from a 6,1/2" snare drum.
Approximately between 1966 and 1968 lugs, hoops and other various parts were changed. These changes were gradual while old parts were used up. I have seen Royal Ace snare drums with the newer lugs but older hoops and badges.
Lugs for 5,1/2" deep snare drums. New lug (top), sometimes called the `pointy` lug and the older one below.
Bottom view of the 5,1/2" lugs. Note that the new one is much wider.
Lugs for 6,1/2" snare drums and 8" deep toms. The new `pointy` lug is top and the older one below.
Bottom views of the same lugs.
Early hoop ears. I"ve heard these Later streamlined hoop ears being refered to as beer barrell hoops!! The early hoops are 1" high while the later ones are only 7/8"
The early tone contol,(left) also came with red felts.
Early (Left) and newer drum keys. Both are for slot headed rods.
These lugs were first used on Olympic floor toms from the late 1960`s onwards. They were also used on Premier Club floor toms. They were also used on first version of Soundwave toms and basses. On the second version they were mounted on plinths as the shells were undersized. These lugs were also used on Royale, Crown, APK and XPK up until 1987.
